We thank Mr. Chris de Witt for kindly allowing us to use pictures of the Berlin Wall. Our thanks also go to the Polizeihistorische Sammlung des Polizeipräsidenten in Berlin (Police Historical Collection) for its kind permission to use a large number of photos from its picture archive. We thank Cineimpuls Film & Video KG for allowing us to use excerpts from interviews featured in the ARD television production “When The Wall Came Tumbling Down – 50 Hours That Changed The World” (Directors: Hans-Hermann Hertle, Gunther Scholz; Camera: Peter Badel, Volker Langhoff and Andreas Bergmann; SFB 1999) on this website. Our thanks also go to Deutsche Welle for permission to use archive film material from the time the Wall came down that was broadcast by RIAS TV, and to the Bundeswehr Information and Media Centre, which kindly allowed us to use material from training and documentary films as well as army newsreels.

Note on gender-fair language

We are open to these discussions and take a multi-perspective approach to creating new content that reflects the diversity of society as much as possible and is equally committed to historical context, general comprehensibility, and gender-fair language.
